Garage Organization: Find Your Tools Again

Garage Organization: Find Your Tools Again

May 27, 2021 0 By admin

Do you spend more time looking for your tools than you do actually completing projects? Do you know you have a screwdriver to change batteries for your kid’s toy for the umpteenth time, somewhere? If so, you might be in need of some garage organization. Keep reading for a few tips on how to organize your garage for easier access to your tools.

1. Install a Pegboard Tool Organizer

Pegboards can organize anything, but their classic use is for organizing tools in a garage or shed. These are perfect for hanging tools such as drills, screwdrivers or paintbrushes in plain sight. Frequently used tools are great for pegboards as they can be easily viewed and accessed.

2. Try a Mobile Workbench

Workbenches are a great way to organize tools. A mobile workbench with casters and wheels is one way to keep your garage neat and tidy. The added bonus with a mobile workbench is that you can move it closer to where you are completing your project or to allow space for completing a project in your garage.

3. Use All of Your Wall Space

Utilizing all of the wall space in your garage can score you some serious storage. You can hang bikes, skateboards, scooters, bats and balls. Additionally, you can hang items such as extension cords, rakes and many other tools used for yard work.

4. Add Shelving and Plastic Storage Bins

Try adding plastic shelves and storage bins to arrange your clutter neatly for a very reasonable price. Storage totes come in handy when storing kids’ sports equipment (or adults’ sports equipment, come to think of it). You can also store rope, car washing equipment and many of the other random tools that seem to be accumulated over time.

5. Install Lockable Cabinets

Especially if you have little ones, consider storing toxic chemicals such as paint thinner in upper cabinets with a lock. No one wants to have to call poison control after a child has gotten into (and possibly ingested) toxin chemicals. Being prepared and having chemicals locked away in a high cabinet can save you a lot of headaches and potentially fatal trips to the emergency room.

Following these tips will help you make the most of the time you set aside for completing projects around the house. As a result, you will be able to spend more time actually enjoying the work you have accomplished. Now get to organizing!
